President William Ruto unveiled his second batch of Cabinet secretary nominees on Wednesday, July 24. The announcement included several politicians affiliated with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), raising eyebrows and sparking controversy within the party.

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi expressed his astonishment at the appointments, revealing that ODM's party leader was caught off guard. "The party leader was abroad on a private visit only to come back and find four generals have joined the opposite camp," Amisi stated. He emphasized that the Azimio coalition and the ODM party had not planned to form any coalition with Ruto's Kenya Kwanza government.
"It came as a shock when senior members of ODM showed up on a list of Cabinet appointees announced by Ruto yesterday," Amisi added. The MP criticized the appointments for failing to represent the party's diversity, pointing out that they ignored important factors such as gender, age, and regional balance.
"We wish to reiterate that the position of the party, as communicated by our Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, earlier this week, is that the decision of our four comrades was personal and not a result of any decision made by the party," Amisi clarified.
The unexpected inclusion of ODM members in Ruto's Cabinet has sparked a heated debate, with many questioning the implications for the party's unity and future political alliances.
