Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has finally returned to Kenya after a six-week tour of the United States.

Gachagua’s security team had to escort him through the charged crowd to his awaiting motorcade. Many supporters had camped at the airport from early Thursday morning, showing their loyalty and anticipation.

During his stay in the U.S., Gachagua held public forums with Kenyans living in the diaspora. He used the platforms to mobilize supporters and strengthen his political base abroad.

At the same time, he criticized President William Ruto’s administration, accusing it of corruption, extrajudicial killings, and human rights violations. His remarks have intensified political tensions back home.

Plans for a Public Rally

Gachagua is expected to lead a massive procession from JKIA to the Kamukunji Grounds for a public rally. However, the government has already issued a warning, saying it will monitor the event closely to prevent any lawlessness.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen stated that legal action will be taken if there are any cases of mayhem or disruptions during the rally.

What This Means for Kenyan Politics

Gachagua’s return marks a critical moment in Kenya’s political scene. His recent U.S. activities, coupled with his strong criticism of the government, are expected to intensify political debates and mobilize opposition support.
