In a tragic accident on Tuesday, one person lost their life and 30 others sustained critical injuries when a passenger train derailed near Tata Chemicals in Kajiado. The train, overloaded with passengers, lost control while attempting to cross a metal bridge, leading to a catastrophic derailment and rollover.
Eyewitnesses reported scenes of chaos and distress as the train toppled, trapping several passengers inside the wreckage. Emergency services quickly mobilized to the scene, with St John Ambulance confirming multiple casualties. Rescue teams worked tirelessly to free those trapped and administer first aid.
St John Ambulance spokesperson revealed that rescue operations were immediately initiated upon receiving reports of the accident. "We have dispatched a team to assist in removing those trapped inside the wreckage. The casualties, including the deceased and injured, have been rushed to nearby medical facilities," the spokesperson stated.

Victims were transported to Kajiado Sub-County Hospital, Kitengela Medical Centre, and St Crispin Medical Centre for urgent medical attention. As rescue efforts continue, authorities are investigating the cause of the derailment to prevent future tragedies.
