Uhuru Kenyatta Accuses State House of Denying Him Funds to Run His Office

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has made serious allegations against the State House, accusing it of denying him the necessary funds to run his office. Contrary to claims that the government provided him with brand-new vehicles, Uhuru's office asserts that State House officials have been obstructing their operations by withholding allocated funds.

Kanze Dena, the spokesperson for the Office of the Fourth President, revealed that despite an allocation of KSh 503 million for the financial year 2022/2023, Uhuru's office has not received any funds. "Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was allocated two Toyota Land Cruisers, one Mercedes Benz, and one Range Rover for his personal use. These vehicles were not new," Kanze stated.

She further disclosed that the situation has deteriorated since March 2023, when the fuel cards provided by the government were blocked. "The fuel cards given by the government have been blocked by State House since March 2023," Kanze said.

As a result of these financial constraints, the former president has had to resort to using his personal funds to manage his office, fuel his vehicles, and pay staff allowances.

"The government's move has forced the former president to run his office, fuel his vehicles, and pay his staff allowances through his personal funding," Kanze lamented.

The allegations bring to light the ongoing tensions between the former president and the current administration, raising questions about the support and respect accorded to former heads of state. As the situation unfolds, many will be watching to see how the government responds to these claims and whether the impasse can be resolved.
