According to reports, the fire was sparked by a candle that had been left burning inside the house. The children's mother had stepped out, leaving the two alone when the fire broke out. Despite the swift response from the Nairobi Fire Brigade, assisted by concerned locals, the flames were extinguished too late to save the children.

"The fire was intense, but we did our best to contain it as quickly as possible," said a member of the Nairobi Fire Brigade who was at the scene. "It's heartbreaking that the children couldn't be rescued in time."

The bodies of the two children were retrieved from the charred remains of the house and have been taken to a local mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted.

This tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the dangers of leaving young children unattended and the importance of fire safety measures in the home. The Umoja III community is now rallying around the grieving family, offering support during this incredibly difficult time.
