Scotland Gears Up for Historic Clash Against Germany at EURO 2024

Scotland coach Steve Clarke exudes confidence as his team prepares to face hosts Germany in the opening match of EURO 2024, daringly stating, "We should fear no one."

Clarke aims to make history by guiding Scotland to their first knockout phase in a major tournament, acknowledging the challenge posed by the three-time European champions. "We respect the host nation and recognize their quality," Clarke remarked. "It's a tough game, but our mantra is to respect everyone and fear no one."

Scotland, participating in their fourth Euros, have never advanced past the group stage in their previous 11 finals appearances, despite impressive qualifying performances against teams like Spain and Norway. Clarke emphasized that their focus is on progressing beyond the group stage rather than just the tournament opener, which he described as a "sideshow."

Captain Andy Robertson echoed Clarke's sentiments, emphasizing that all the pressure is on Germany, who have struggled to surpass the round of 16 in recent major tournaments. "We're excited for the challenge and the opportunity to create history," Robertson stated confidently. "There's no external pressure on us, and we're ready to face this formidable test."

Acknowledging Germany's strengths, Robertson highlighted their possession play and acclaimed midfielder Toni Kroos as "the best in the world." Reflecting on past triumphs in Munich with Liverpool, Robertson expressed optimism and fond memories, anticipating a spirited performance from Scotland on the grand stage.

Amidst the backdrop of enthusiastic support from Scotland's loyal fans, the Tartan Army, Robertson emphasized their presence and support, despite their inability to attend the stadium. "The Tartan Army has been incredible, and we aim to make them proud," Robertson affirmed. "We're determined to give them plenty to cheer about."

As anticipation builds for Friday's clash, where all eyes will be on Scotland versus Germany, Robertson and Clarke are poised to lead their team into what promises to be a thrilling and historic EURO 2024 opener.
