Safaricom, Kenya’s leading telecommunications provider, has announced a significant system disturbance scheduled for this weekend. The planned maintenance, aimed at upgrading Safaricom’s M-Pesa and postpaid services, will run for seven hours, beginning at 10 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, and ending at 5 a.m. on Sunday, October 27.

In a statement released on Saturday, Safaricom advised customers to anticipate disruptions across several critical services. “Dear Customers, We will carry out system maintenance and upgrades from 10 pm, 26 October to 5 am, Sunday, 27 October 2024,” the notice read.
During this time, essential services including airtime top-up, Okoa Jahazi, and all bundle purchases via Airtime and M-Pesa will be inaccessible. Also, postpaid payments, Sambaza, Bonga, and SIM swaps will be temporarily unavailable.
Safaricom has apologized for the disruption and urged customers to remain patient as the technical teams work diligently to enhance service quality.
