Nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Chege has urged the Mt. Kenya community to back Deputy President Kithure Kindiki in what she calls a “pivotal alliance” with the Kenya Kwanza government. This call for unity comes months after Chege pledged her support for former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was recently removed from office.

Addressing residents of Murang'a County, Chege passionately appealed for solidarity, highlighting the potential gains Mt. Kenya stands to reap by aligning with the current administration. "We had two sons of the mountain; one has served for two years, and now another is in office for the remaining three. Let us pray for him, let us support him,” she said, emphasizing the continuity of leadership from the Mt. Kenya region.
Chege underscored the importance of remaining in government to drive development in critical areas like healthcare, education, and security. “Where can we get things if we are not in the government?” she asked rhetorically. “Being on the outside is a risk we cannot afford if we want real progress in our region.”
With this new endorsement, Chege’s message taps into a growing desire for the region to have a stake in national governance. She encouraged Mt. Kenya’s residents to look forward, uniting behind Kindiki as a leader who will carry the region's interests at the national level for the remainder of the Kenya Kwanza regime's term.
Chege's message is clear: now is the time to rally together, strengthen regional influence within the government, and ensure that the aspirations of Mt. Kenya are met through collaboration rather than opposition.
As political dynamics shift, it remains to be seen how the people of Mt. Kenya will respond to Chege's call.
