President Ruto Shocks Kenyans by Bringing Raila Along on China Trip.

President William Ruto's arrival in China for the highly anticipated Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit has sparked a mix of reactions among Kenyans. The president, who landed in a casual ensemble of a sweatshirt, dark trousers, and sneakers, was joined by First Lady Rachel Ruto, who donned a matching black outfit. However, it was the presence of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, walking just behind them in his signature fedora hat and dark Kaunda suit, that caught many by surprise.

The delegation was welcomed with a military parade and a vibrant dance troupe, setting the tone for what promises to be a significant diplomatic engagement. President Ruto expressed his optimism about the summit, stating, "Over the years, China has proven to be a true development partner, significantly revamping our infrastructure. We look forward to leveraging these ties to accelerate our transformation."

The decision to bring Raila Odinga on the trip has left many Kenyans puzzled, given the political dynamics between the two leaders. However, others praised the president's choice to fly with Kenya Airways, a stark contrast to his previous use of a private jet for a trip to the United States. The move has been seen by some as a gesture of solidarity with the national carrier and an acknowledgment of the economic challenges facing the country.

As the summit unfolds, all eyes will be on the Kenyan delegation, not just for their diplomatic engagements but also for the unexpected unity displayed by the two political heavyweights.
