The National Assembly Committee on Appointments has rejected the nomination of Stella Soi Langat for the position of Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, Arts, and Heritage. Despite Langat's disqualification, the committee has given the green light to 19 other Cabinet nominees who were vetted last week.
Among those who received the committee's approval are notable figures such as Kithure Kindiki for Interior, Deborah Barasa for Health, Alice Wahome for Lands, and Julius Ogamba for Education. Soipan Tuya, Andrew Karanja, Aden Duale, and Eric Muuga also secured their respective positions as Cabinet Secretaries for Defence, Agriculture, Environment, and Water.

Other nominees who sailed through the vetting process include Davis Chirchir for Transport, Margaret Ndung'u for ICT, John Mbadi for Treasury, Salim Mvurya for Trade, Rebecca Miano for Tourism, Opiyo Wandayi for Energy, and Kipchumba Murkomen for Sports. Additionally, Ali Hassan Joho was approved for Mining and Blue Economy, Alfred Mutua for Labour, Wycliffe Oparanya for Cooperatives and MSMEs, and Justin Muturi for Public Service.
The committee's report is scheduled to be tabled in Parliament on Wednesday afternoon, where lawmakers will deliberate on whether to endorse Soi's appointment or uphold the committee's recommendation to reject her nomination.
The decision regarding Langat's fate now rests in the hands of Parliament, as the nation awaits the final verdict on her suitability for the role.
