In an unprecedented show of solidarity, more than 50,000 Kenyans joined an X Space dedicated to addressing the arrest and subsequent 'disappearance' of several influential personalities on the platform. The Space, a feature that enables users to engage in live audio conversations, was led by some of the most prominent figures in the Kenyan X community, including the popular 'Masculinity Saturdays' creator, Amerix.
During the Space, the organizers boldly criticized the government and police for the arbitrary arrests of vocal online personalities. These influencers have been instrumental in driving the Occupy Parliament protests and stimulating vital national conversations. The mysterious arrest of X heavyweight @CrazyNairobian, also known as Billy the Goat, was a primary focus. Billy, who enjoys immense respect and has a following of 403,000, was later released on Saturday night.
The event highlighted the growing influence of social media voices in shaping public discourse and holding authorities accountable. The collective outrage and support demonstrated by the vast number of participants underscored the power of online communities in advocating for justice and transparency.
