Olympic bronze medalist Mary Moraa has called on President William Ruto to extend his support to Kenya’s athletics stars as they prepare for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

Speaking at State House, Nairobi, during the official flag-off of Team Kenya, Moraa expressed her confidence in the athletes’ ability to bring home medals. However, she also urged the President to recognize the dedication and sacrifices made by track stars.
“As Team Kenya, we are ready to compete at the World Championships. We want to conquer the world, and we promise to bring back medals. Na wewe kama baba yetu, macho yote iko kwako, hope utacheza kama wewe,” Moraa said.
Moraa’s remarks come just days after President Ruto announced several goodwill initiatives for Kenyan footballers. Now, athletics stars are hoping to receive similar recognition and support as they chase global glory in Tokyo.
The 2025 World Athletics Championships are expected to attract the best runners worldwide, and Kenya will be banking on its strong track record to maintain its dominance on the global stage.
