Hojbjerg, a seasoned international with 81 caps for Denmark, was a key player in all four of Denmark's matches at Euro 2024. Despite their journey ending at the hands of hosts Germany in the last-16, Hojbjerg's performance was a standout.

Beginning his professional journey with German giants Bayern Munich, Hojbjerg later made his mark in the Premier League with Southampton in 2016. His tenure at Tottenham, which began in August 2020, saw him make 184 appearances, establishing himself as a reliable and tenacious midfielder.

The financial details of the deal remain undisclosed by Marseille, but several sports media outlets have suggested a compulsory purchase option estimated at around 13 million euros ($14 million).

Hojbjerg’s arrival at the Stade Velodrome comes amidst a flurry of activity for Marseille during this transfer window. He joins other new signings, including midfielder Ismael Kone, defender Lilian Brassier, and former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood. Additionally, new coach Roberto De Zerbi will be looking to integrate these talents and elevate Marseille’s performance in the upcoming season.

With these strategic additions, Marseille is clearly aiming to make a strong statement in Ligue 1 and beyond. The acquisition of Hojbjerg, in particular, is seen as a significant step in bolstering their midfield strength and overall team dynamics.

As Marseille gears up for the new season, fans are eagerly anticipating the impact these new arrivals will bring to the club’s ambitions both domestically and in European competitions.
