Kwabinazaro Horror: DCI Exhumes Bodies as Cult Secrets Unfold

Nearly a month after the shocking discovery of human remains and hidden graves in Kwabinazaro, Kilifi County, the DCI Homicide Department has launched an intensive exhumation exercise.

On the first day of the operation, investigators recovered five bodies from six graves. A total of 27 graves have been marked for examination as the search continues.

“Of the six, we found five bodies and, around that area, we also recovered 10 scattered human body parts,” said Government Pathologist Dr. Richard Njoroge.

Kwabinazaro Grave Sites Spread Across the Ranch

Unlike the infamous Shakahola massacre, where graves were concentrated in one area, the Kwabinazaro graves are scattered across a five-acre ranch.

This distance between graves has made tracing and exhumation extremely challenging for investigators.

Inside the Suspected Cult’s Operations

The ongoing investigation has also revealed chilling details about how the suspected cult leaders operated.

In one enclosure, detectives discovered what appears to have been a meeting space. Sources say Shirleen, a woman believed to be the local cult leader, used this area to instruct followers and conduct teachings.

Nearby, investigators found a three-room structure believed to have been the cult’s "dying chambers."

According to Kilifi County Commissioner Josphat Biwott:

“The victims who agreed to fast to death were locked inside two rooms — one for men and one for women. Once they died, their bodies were moved to a central room, then buried in different locations around the ranch.”

Links to the Shakahola Cult

Before these latest exhumations, 11 deaths had already been reported in Kwabinazaro.

Authorities believe this cult could be connected to the Good News International Church, led by controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie, the same group behind the Shakahola massacre. Both sites are part of the larger Chakama Ranch.

“These deaths are strongly linked to suspected cult-like activities tied to Mackenzie’s group,” said Afrika Walid Sketty, a vocal human rights advocate.

Ongoing Investigations

The DCI is expected to continue digging up graves, collecting evidence, and interviewing survivors to piece together the truth behind the horrific deaths.

Authorities warn that more bodies are likely to be recovered as the exhumation continues.
