President William Ruto nominated the first batch of Cabinet Secretaries to replace those fired amidst weeks of youth-led anti-government protests. The Head of State, in a press address at State House on Friday, emphasized that the 11 nominations, including the Attorney General, were the result of extensive consultations across the political divide aimed at restoring peace and stability in the country.

The list of nominees, however, stirred controversy as it included six previously dismissed Cabinet Secretaries who now make a comeback in different ministries. Notably, Prof. Kithure Kindiki retained his former position.
Here is the list of the 11 Cabinet Secretaries and their designations:
Ministry of the Interior and National Administration: Prof. Kithure Kindiki
Ministry of Health: Dr. Debra Mulonga Barasa
Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development: Alice Wahome
Ministry of Education: Julius Migosi Ogamba
Ministry of Defence: Aden Barre Duale
Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development: Dr. Andrew Mwihia Karanja
Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry: Roselinda Soipan Tuiya
Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation: Eric Muriithi Muuga
Ministry of Roads and Transport: Davis Chirchir
Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy: Margaret Nyambura Ndung'u
Attorney-General: Rebecca Miano
"I am continuing to undertake consultations across the political divide on the balance of Cabinet that I will appoint shortly. The consultations are at an advanced stage and internal processes in various sectors are underway to facilitate my appointment of the balance of this Cabinet,” said the President.
President Ruto assured the nation of his commitment to providing a clear roadmap for the new Cabinet, highlighting the need for clear timelines and deliverables. “I will be issuing next week a clear roadmap on the assignment that the new Cabinet is going to have, with clear timelines and deliverables to harness the tremendous potential that exists in our nation and drive our country to greatness."
This announcement comes at a critical time, as the country grapples with socio-political unrest and demands for governmental reforms. The youth-led protests have highlighted a significant discontent with the current administration, prompting this decisive action by the President. The nation now watches closely, hoping these changes will bring the promised peace and stability.
