Israel attacks Gaza after UN delivers Aid

The United Nations has raised alarm over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, with reports indicating that only a single aid mission has been permitted into the besieged northern region this month. Shortly after delivering supplies, Israeli forces allegedly targeted the shelters where the aid was distributed, heightening fears of worsening conditions on the ground.

UN aid chief Martin Griffiths warned the international community is "witnessing acts reminiscent of the gravest international crimes" as food and medicine remain scarce, and Israel dismisses warnings of a potential famine as "slanderous." Aid organizations report that Israeli restrictions on aid have compounded the crisis, pushing Gaza’s residents to the brink.

The 30-day deadline set by the U.S. Congress for Israel to ease humanitarian conditions or face potential cuts to arms funding expired this week, yet American officials have reaffirmed their unwavering support for Israel. In response, aid groups say that the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza has only deepened over the past month.

Israel’s intensified military campaign has led to staggering casualties. In Gaza, at least 43,665 Palestinians have been killed and over 103,000 wounded since the onset of the conflict on October 7, according to Palestinian health authorities. Cross-border hostilities have also spread to Lebanon, where Israeli attacks have killed at least 3,287 people and injured over 14,000, with dozens reported killed in a single day of bombings.

The conflict began after Hamas-led attacks inside Israel left at least 1,139 Israelis dead and saw over 200 taken captive. Amid rising concerns from the international community, humanitarian advocates continue to urge an immediate ceasefire and expanded aid access to address the crisis unfolding in Gaza and surrounding areas.
