Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Officials Confirmed Dead in Helicopter Crash

In a devastating turn of events, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has been confirmed dead following a helicopter crash in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday, May 19, when the helicopter carrying President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and several other officials suffered a "hard landing" near the city of Jolfa.

The search and rescue operation, led by the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran, quickly located the wreckage of the helicopter. However, the news from the crash site was grim. Kolivand, the chairman of the Red Crescent Society, announced that there were no signs of life among the passengers.

"The rescue forces reached the remains of the helicopter. Upon discovering the location of the crashed helicopter, no signs of the helicopter's occupants being alive were observed," he stated.

Footage from the scene revealed the extent of the destruction, with the helicopter almost entirely destroyed by fire.

"President Raisi's helicopter was completely burned in the crash ... unfortunately, all passengers are feared dead," an Iranian official reported, as quoted by Reuters.
