Hollywood insider Lovince Mckenzie is set to lead a star-studded team on a documentary project that promises to reshape how Africa, and Kenya in particular, is portrayed on the world stage.

The documentary, which aims to challenge persistent stereotypes about Africa in the film and creative industries, will focus on Kenya's rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and growing influence in the global creative scene. Mckenzie, a Kenyan-born artist and filmmaker known for his work in the United States, is returning to his roots with a vision to showcase the true essence of his homeland.
Joining Mckenzie on this project is an impressive lineup of accomplished professionals, including Nicole Murphy—a model, TV and film producer, beauty entrepreneur, and the ex-wife of Eddie Murphy. The team also features talents like Rita Ewing, an author and entrepreneur; Frantz Michel, founder of Dream Deferred; Olu the Wave, a prominent Nigerian film company founder; and Nathan Gathegi, a Kenyan-born creative director.
“This documentary is about more than just telling a story,” said Mckenzie. “It’s about breaking down the outdated perceptions of Africa and showing the world the vibrancy, innovation, and beauty of Kenya. My international experience has given me a unique perspective, and I’m excited to bring that back to where it all began for me.”
The project is set to be a collaborative effort with local partners such as RSVP Africa and the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB). A local film crew will also be involved, providing an opportunity for skill development and ensuring that the documentary resonates authentically with Kenyan audiences.
Nicole Murphy echoed Mckenzie’s sentiment, adding, “This is a story that needs to be told, and I’m honored to be a part of it. Kenya has so much to offer, and we’re here to bring that to light.”
With such a powerful team at the helm, this documentary is poised to not only captivate audiences worldwide but also redefine how Kenya—and Africa as a whole—is perceived in the global narrative.
