High Court Orders Police to Wear Nametags and Uniforms During Protests

The High Court in Nairobi has mandated that all police officers must wear name tags and uniforms when dealing with protesters. The ruling, issued on Wednesday by High Court Judge Bahati Mwamuye, stems from a suit filed on July 31 by Florence Wairimu.

Judge Mwamuye's order requires that all uniformed police officers, or those acting under the National Police Service's direction, must have a visible nametag or identifiable service number when engaging with protesters. The ruling also prohibits plainclothes officers from wearing balaclavas or hiding their identities during such operations.
