Germany Crushes Scotland 5-1 in Thrilling Euro 2024 Opener

Germany kicked off their Euro 2024 campaign with a resounding 5-1 victory over Scotland in Munich on Friday, launching their quest for a record fourth continental title in spectacular fashion.

Florian Wirtz ignited the fireworks early, scoring the opening goal just 10 minutes into the match. Jamal Musiala followed up with a clinical finish, doubling Germany's lead and sending the home fans into a frenzy.

Scotland's hopes took a severe blow before halftime when Ryan Porteous received a red card for a dangerous two-footed tackle on Ilkay Gundogan. Kai Havertz made no mistake with the resulting penalty, giving Germany a commanding 3-0 advantage.

In the second half, substitute Niclas Fuellkrug showcased his striking prowess by netting a powerful fourth goal, putting the game well beyond Scotland's reach. Despite a late own goal by Antonio Ruediger, Germany's dominance was never in doubt.

Emre Can put the icing on the cake, scoring a fifth goal with the final kick of the match. Germany's emphatic victory not only sets a high benchmark for the tournament but also cements their status as strong contenders for the title.
