Garissa Governor Nathif Jama has endorsed the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission's (EACC) investigation into eight senior officials accused of embezzling public funds.
In a decisive move, EACC agents recently raided the offices and residences of the implicated county officials, seizing vital documents for their investigation.
Governor Jama affirmed his administration's full cooperation with the EACC, emphasizing a commitment to transparency and accountability in the use of county funds. He condemned the misinformation spreading on social media, urging the youth to share verified information responsibly to avoid unnecessary panic.
"The operation has been sensationalized with unverified information, misleading the public," Jama remarked. "We must use social platforms to promote truth, not create tension."
So far, three officials have recorded statements with the EACC. The investigation, authorized by a court order, aims to uncover any corrupt dealings involving the officials, their proxies, and associated companies in business with the county government.
Governor Jama's proactive stance highlights his determination to root out corruption and ensure ethical governance in Garissa County.
