According to Tebere Ward MCA Peter Karinga, who is also Njiiri’s brother-in-law, the former deputy governor died at Mwea Mission Hospital after a short illness.

“He died at the age of 65. We are currently meeting at Ngurubani Town and at his home in Kiamanyeki Village,” Karinga said.

Njiiri’s Role in Kirinyaga Leadership

Julius Njiiri served as the first deputy governor of Kirinyaga County between 2013 and 2017, under the leadership of the county’s first governor, Joseph Ndathi. During his tenure, he played a key role in shaping the county’s governance and development agenda.
