Female Radio Presenter Found Dead

The body of prominent Radio 44 presenter Lilian Achieng' Aluko was found in her boyfriend's home in what authorities suspect to be a brutal case of femicide, marking yet another troubling incident in the country’s escalating violence against women.

Aluko, 33, reportedly informed her family she would be spending Thursday night at her boyfriend's residence. It was the last time they heard from her. On Friday, November 1, her body was discovered with severe facial injuries and a stab wound behind her right ear. The boyfriend, now the main suspect, remains at large, with police intensifying their search.

Neighbours recounted hearing loud music and violent sounds from the apartment but were unable to intervene as the door was locked and the stereo volume obscured the commotion. Investigators have since recovered a knife, believed to be the murder weapon, from the scene.

The incident has reignited calls from both officials and activists for immediate government action to address femicide. In recent months, cases of violence against women have surged, with 97 reported deaths in the last three months alone. President William Ruto addressed the nation, condemning the violence and pledging that authorities will take swift action to bring those responsible to justice.

“How can it be that our girls and women, who look to us for love and protection, are now dying in the hands of men?” the president stated during a recent address, highlighting both the criminal and moral dimensions of the crisis.

Lilian, known for her vibrant personality and beloved by her listeners, is remembered by her friends and family as a caring and spirited individual. Her sister, heartbroken, emphasised the need for justice, calling her death a devastating loss.
