DCI Summons Gachagua Over Explosive Assassination Allegations Amid Political Fallout

Ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over shocking claims that multiple assassination attempts were made on his life before his impeachment. Gachagua, addressing the media just days after his ouster and discharge from Karen Hospital, accused undercover police agents and National Intelligence Service (NIS) officers of attempting to poison him on two separate occasions, first in Kisumu on August 30, and again in Nyeri on September 3.

Gachagua, in a highly charged press conference, described how he and Kikuyu elders narrowly escaped the alleged poisoning plots, casting a dark shadow over Kenya’s political climate. He further accused President William Ruto, a longtime ally, of betrayal, saying, "I did not know the President could be that vicious," and warning that Ruto would be held accountable should anything happen to him or his family.

The DCI has responded swiftly, underscoring the seriousness of the allegations, and summoning Gachagua to record a statement at their Nairobi headquarters. "Serious allegations emanating from a person of his stature cannot be taken lightly," the DCI noted in a letter, promising a "prompt and thorough" investigation.

This latest development throws Kenya’s political landscape into deeper uncertainty. President Ruto has yet to address either the assassination claims or Gachagua’s impeachment, while his nominee for Deputy President, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, remains blocked from assuming office due to court challenges.

As the nation awaits further action, Gachagua’s explosive claims have fueled speculation of deeper political rifts within Kenya’s leadership. The investigation by the DCI will be closely watched, as the outcome could have profound implications for the country's political stability.allegations, emphasizing the potential political consequences and ongoing tensions. It positions the story as breaking news with broad national implications.
