county Assembly approves 4.1 Billon budget.

​Vihiga county government budget was read yesterday at kidundu friend’s church by the budget committee members of the county assembly.The budget amounted to a total of 4.7 billion with the healh department getting 1.3billion and 3.2 billion going towards reccunt expenditure.

The budget which is to cover financial year 2016-2017.was read at Kidundu friends church as the county assembly was undergoing renovations.

During the event Hon. Butiya chairman of the budget committee stated that” we are making a financial law that will guide the people of Vihiga in the next one year hence it should be supervised and managed.

The chairman also said that in this years financial budget the committee has considered the disabled, those living with Hiv Aids ,those who do not have houses a programme he refferd to as social housing, road construction and buiding of ECD schools.

Nominated Mca Hon.Nathan kamedi challenged the implementation committee to come up with a time frame for the implementation of the budget and at the same time do a follow-up to ensure that the budget has been adhered to fully. Hon.Chogo Abdalla Mca central Maragoli also emphasized on the implementation of the budget in which each of the 25 wards in Vihiga was awarded 20 million for this financial year.

However some residents were still not content with the budget since they filled a petition against the budget since it had not taken into consideration the 2 billion county debt for financial year 2015-2016 .The petition was brought down due to inability to meet the minimum required thresh hold.
