Controversy Mars Netherlands-France Euro Clash

The Netherlands' four-match winning streak in Euros group games came to an abrupt halt in Leipzig's Red Bull Arena as they were held to a contentious 0-0 draw by France.

The clash, crucial for determining Group D's leader with a matchday to spare, saw the Dutch start brightly. Jeremie Frimpong's early shot was deftly saved by Mike Maignan, setting the tone for a tense encounter.

France, despite recent dominance over their rivals, struggled initially and squandered chances, notably Antoine Griezmann's glaring miss from close range. A defensive lapse almost allowed Marcus Thuram to capitalize, but Stefan de Vrij's recovery spared the Dutch blushes.

The second half saw sustained French pressure, with Aurelien Tchouaméni and Griezmann missing golden opportunities. Yet, it was the Netherlands who thought they had broken the deadlock through Xavi Simons, only for the goal to be disallowed due to offside interference by Denzel Dumfries.

Even with substitutes like Wout Weghorst, the match ended goalless, marking their first scoreless encounter since 2004.

The result leaves Group D wide open, with France eyeing a favorable path to the final if they can best Poland in their final fixture.
